Weekend Writing Warriors-Shadow Codex Snippet 4
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 to 10 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I’m continuing to share from my latest Shadow Codex. Last time we discovered Caleigh was just a little bit gummed by the fact that saving the world meant she missed her book club and thereby one of the few opportunities to spend time with sexy Sawyer. But maybe he is much closer than she thinks…
Steps sounded behind her. She turned around with a smile that died away rather quickly. Kind of hard to smile when your jaw was busy touching the floor. “Sawyer? What are you doing here?”
His eyes widened for a second, but he was much better at catching himself. “Caleigh, what a delight. To answer your question, I am here to see a man about a book.”
She pressed her lips together, struggling to find her brain—why did he have to look so sexy in one of his great suits? He could give Daniel Craig a run for his money.
One witch. One shifter. One angry god hell-bent on the destruction of the world.
Witch Caleigh hunts for the Shadow Codex. She has seven days to unearth it and learn the spell to banish a god before he can do the wipe out the world thing. She didn’t anticipate being joined by sexy Sawyer, the man she’s had a crush on for months. After having suffered devastating loss she’s no longer willing to risk her heart, so a crush is all it can be.
Sawyer has one goal: fulfil his duty as alpha and protect his pack at all cost. Being sidetracked by luscious Caleigh wasn’t part of the plan. When he discovers they are after the same book he’s happy to savor every moment with her. That is all he can do. Because bringing a human into a world where physical prowess is everything would kill her.
The chemistry between them grows explosive until danger catapults them over the edge. Caleigh has to decide how much she’s willing to risk. Sawyer needs to determine if his pack is all that matters. When danger closes in it may be easier to banish a god than to face their inner demons.
Things have been a bit crazy for me. A couple of weeks ago I was at the Romantic Times Convention in Las Vegas. It was absolutely amazing. Coming back I had quite a bit of catching up to do at work. And next week I’m going to be in Ottawa at Romancing the Capital. I’m incredibly excited about going as it’s one of the funnest and best conferences I’ve ever been to. If you’re in the are you should definitely come by for the Saturday Signing. It’s open to the public;).
Happy Sunday and have a fabulous and productive week!
And here are a couple of images of Sawyer’s other half:
Weekend Writing Warriors-Shadow Codex Snippet 3
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 to 10 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I’m continuing to share from my upcoming release Shadow Codex, which releases next Tuesday, April 5th. Last week witch Caleigh contemplated the fact that she was on a quest to banish an angry god hell-bent on the destruction of the world and had only a measly seven days to do it. This snippet is a few paragraphs on and has just a touch of creative punctuation.
Did it make her the worst person in the world that she wasn’t that excited about this quest because it meant missing her monthly book club? She loved books and the great discussions her little group usually had, but the main reason she was bummed was that she wouldn’t sit beside yummy and delicious Sawyer for two-plus hours.
That and having him drop by the store were the highlights of her month.
Sawyer Hudson. She sighed; one of the sexiest men alive. No, halt that thought-the sexiest man alive; at least for her.
And so far out of her league he was in a different universe. But those moments when they talked books—usually disagreeing as much as possible because that was the most fun—she was in seventh heaven.
Well, not this month and if she didn’t get her act together, maybe never again.
Talk about motivation.
Here is the preliminary blurb:
One witch. One shifter. One angry god hell-bent on the destruction of the world.

I am super excited about the release next week. I’ve seen a draft version of the cover and can’t wait to share it with you and the rest of the world. I’m neck deep in preparation for RT the week after next. I always think I know what I’m doing until I get to this point and then freak out with all the things I hadn’t thought of yet. Fingers crossed I’ll manage to tick some things off my list before I get on the plane;).
Happy Sunday and have a fabulous and productive week!
And of course I can’t leave you without a sexy shifter;).

I’m back! And I’m about to share the opening ten lines from my upcoming release Shadow Codex. It’s a paranormal erotic romance and a complete departure from my previous Sci-Fi and Steampunk books. It will release the beginning of April from Loose Id and I’m very excited.
Caleigh O’Bryant loved being a witch. It suited her just fine, and heck, having magic course through your body at the height of a spell was a pretty awesome feeling.
Unfortunately the whole being-a-witch thing meant the Tri-Goddess, or rather her representatives, led the coven. And wasn’t it just lovely that the San Francisco coven was big enough to warrant all three representatives: the maid, the mother, and the crone? They were just so lucky.
Not.
Especially when all three of them called you into their office—she still found it weird to put the words goddess and office into one sentence—and told you to find an ancient codex because it included an incantation that would send a newly awakened god back to his dimension. Turned out when Cernnunos, a version of the Green Man and the protector of everything green and alive, awoke, he hadn’t been too happy with the state of the planet. He’d decided that humanity was at fault and needed to be removed.
He wasn’t wrong, they had made a complete mess of the world, but sending a plague that killed its victims slowly and with torturous pain wasn’t exactly the best solution.
Edit: I just realized I never added a blurb, so here is a preliminary version:

The last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind. Last September I bought my first home, a condo, and with a closing of two weeks had a few things I needed to get sorted;). I’ve moved in, and Emma and I have even gotten mostly used to being in the new space. Then a few things at the EDJ changed (aka blew up), meaning I suddenly had a new boss, a new team and basically a new job. I love it and am incredibly grateful I still have a job, but it’s still a bit of a roller coaster (and long hours).
I look forward to catching up on everyone’s stories and of course I can’t leave you without a sexy shifter;).
Happy Sunday and have a fabulous week!
Dirigibles Are Forever Cover Reveal!
I am incredibly excited to share with you the cover for my upcoming sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever! Dirigibles Are Forever is a super-sexy Christmas novella set in an alternative Victorian London, filled with adventure, secrets and fun with a dash of James Bond thrown in. I had a blast writing it and I really hope you have as much fun reading it. Dirigibles Are Forever releases December 9th, 2014 from Loose Id.
Here we are-drumroll please-
Blurb:
Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.
Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.
When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.
But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?

Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series, is out in the world and this is my final snippet. I hope you enjoyed Sydney, Miguel and Jayden’s adventure.
Last week Jayden put the moves on Sydney and I had a few questions about Miguel. I hope this snippet, which is a little way after last week’s, will give you a taste;). We’re in Jayden’s POV.
“All right,” Jayden rubbed his hands together, “So, what should we do first?”
“First you will undress Sydney. Then you will lay her out on the bed and feast on her until you have brought her to pleasure three times.”
Jayden frowned at Calatrave. “Who has gone and made you king?”
The other Vampire didn’t respond but walked—no strode—to a large, surprisingly comfortable looking chair at the foot end of the bed and sat down, his fingers steepled beneath his chin, for all intents and purpose looking like a master waiting for his minions to fall in line.
Jayden paused. Maybe that was it.”
If you’re NaNo-ing this month all the best. Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!
Here is the blurb:
Sydney Radnall is no man’s toy, despite fate’s attempt to make her just that. A kidnapping puts her at the mercy of a sadistic Feral commander. Being held prisoner is bad enough, but her Naema blood is powerful. In her current Vampiric company her presence is like ringing a dinner bell.
In an attempt to break the commander makes her the pet of two of his lieutenants. Miguel is one of the most dangerous men she has ever met, but she can’t stop the attraction blazing between them. Then there is Jayden, a Vampire who is as surprising as he is sexy. Two Vampires she should not be attracted to, should not want to surrender to, should not trust.
But things aren’t always what they seem. Secrets and lies shadow their connections, making it impossible to see clearly. What are the chances of her finding lifemates while surrounded by enemies? And making the wrong decision could not just shatter her heart. It could cost her life.

Last week Jayden challenged Miguel to seduce Sydney as voluntary submission was far more erotic than force. Sydney is off balance and unsure what is going on, but the cold ball of fear that had curled tight in her stomach finally releases. She is about to discover that Jayden has a few moves. We are in her point of view and Jayden speaks first.
“Let me show you.”
Distracted by Jayden’s smile and the way he didn’t seem to take anything seriously she didn’t see him move. He wrapped both arms around her, pulled her close against his chest and kissed her.
His lips were firm but soft. Where she had expected coercion she got seduction. His lips teased her; force she could have fought, but his approach left her helpless to fend off. It had been too long since she had kissed a man. And Jayden was a formidable kisser who left her hungry for more.
I have started on my next WIP, a steampunk novella (that’s the planned length, but my books tend to end up longer than expected a lot of the times;) set in the same world as my upcoming Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever. My outline is incredibly detailed: The hero and villain talk. Things happen. The Black Moment approaches. I may have to think a little more before I start on those scenes;). It’s nice to be writing again and my heroine Vanessa intrigues me to no end. I’ll start sharing once I have a few words down.

I’d planned to move on to new project, but then I realised that Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series, releases in a week and a half and decided to continue sharing for a couple more weeks;).
Today’s snippet is a few pages after last week’s. Sydney, now Miguel and Jayden’s “pet” finds herself alone in a room with them, but things are not as she anticipated. We are in her point of view.
“How is this going to work?” Their behavior did not match her expectations. Where she’d anticipated force she’d found calm.
Jayden took her hand and she let him. “I know Nasir—and you—expected our encounter to be filled with violence,” he shook his head. “I find voluntary submission much more erotic.” He turned to Miguel, “Don’t you?” Challenge echoed through his words despite his even tone.
Tangled Redemption releases next Wednesday and I’m hugely excited (and somewhat stressed out;).
The last couple of months have been exhausting. If you have any suggestions on how to clear your mind and refocus your attention please share. I need all the help I can get;).

Nasir has handed Sydney over to Miguel and Jayden as a pet, making it very clear that if she does not fall in line her fate would be considerably worse. In last week’s snippet Sydney struggled with her response to the two men. She cannot believe she could be attracted to what she presumes are monsters, especially after the disaster with her late husban. Creative punctuation has been used.
“After what felt like an age but probably was no longer than fifteen minutes they arrived outside a door; Calatrave entered a code and then leaned forward for an iris scan. He then put his hand into another scanner; it took her a moment to identify it as an aura scanner. “Jade, talk about paranoia,” she muttered angry that she’d been so busy with berating herself she hadn’t paid any attention to where they had been going or what they’d walked past.
She was completely useless at this operative business.
But that was about to change.
Sydney was at the center of ring, at the very core of where things were decided and planned. She would do everything in her power to gather intel and send it to Duncan and Tanasha. The Vampires underestimated her-she could use that.
And if it killed her at least she’d tried.”
I am excited to share the cover of Tangled Redemption with you.

I am continuing to share parts of Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series. We first meet Sydney in Tangled Hunger, book 2 of the Celestial Surrender series.
In last week’s snippet Nasir turned “owning” Sydney into a competition. Miguel is not happy that he allowed himself to be sucked into one of Nasir’s games, but he couldn’t stop himself. He expected the competition to take place in the ring, but the Big Bad has turned it into a sexual contest where Miguel and Jayden share Sydney. This snippet is a couple of pages later and in Sydney’s point of view.
“Sydney vacillated between raging anger, worry and arousal. Of all the things she’d anticipated, being handed over as a toy to two of the most attractive men she’d seen in a very long time had not been part of her imagination.
And that was the problem.
How could she even consider this? They worked for the monster, probably had done plenty of monstrous things themselves. But she had taken the time to notice the sleek lines of Calatrave’s body, the delicious package that was hidden behind just one thin layer of clothes. And then there was Jayden. There wasn’t the instant need to touch she had with Calatrave, but his body was a piece of art and she wanted to stroke and explore.”
Here is the blurb:

Miguel is not happy that he allowed himself to be sucked into one of Nasir’s games, but he couldn’t stop himself. He expected the competition to take place in the ring, but the Big Bad has other plans. Interesting punctuation has been used to give you the full paragraph. We are in Miguel’s point of view.
““No,” Nasir stopped them from leaving for the ring; all levity had disappeared from his face. “I don’t want my lieutenants fighting over food.” The hairs on the back of Miguel’s neck rose; “You will share.”
Miguel bit his tongue until he tasted blood. He knew he had been too blunt, too forceful with Nasir over the last few months, but he had reached a point where he no longer cared. This had now come back to bite him.
He preferred to initiate any sharing; his leader knew that and he still would make him go through with this. Miguel could step away, leave Sydney to Jayden, but he wasn’t prepared to do so.“
