Weekend Writing Warriors-From Prussia With Love
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 to 10 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I’m taking a break from Blindsided to share a snippet from my latest steampunk release From Prussia With Love, book 1 in the Victoria’s Secret Agents series. It released this week (insert excited squee;). If you stop by my blog and share your favourite James Bond movie with me, you’ll be entered to win steampunk jewellery. Today is the final day of the contest.
This snippet is only a few paragraphs after last week’s. They have finished the tour of the cargo hold and Garrett asks Clara if she has seen enough and says she has. He’s intrigued and despite everything she’s said still a tad suspicious of her, but the tension between them approaches peak levels. We are in Garrett’s point of view and he speaks first.
“And was it everything you had hoped for?”
She captured his gaze with a sharp one of her own; then she examined her surroundings and chuckled. “It came close.”
Garrett crossed his arms over his chest and blocked the way. “Not good enough. I can’t let you out of here until we’ve fulfilled all your expectations.”
Even in the low light the green sparks in her eyes grew bolder.
His cock hardened further.
She licked her lips, raising his body temperature a few hundred degrees.
Clara Redbeck has one goal: to prove to the sods at work—and to herself—that the best man for the job can be a woman. To do that, she must prevent a traitor from blowing London to bits. If only the dashing first mate of the dirigible she’d been tasked to plunder didn’t set her aflame.
Garrett Dewhurst has one goal: to execute the coup of a lifetime. His plans do not include a spanking dalliance with the most intriguing woman he has ever met.
With each encounter, the fire between them burns hotter and their need grows stronger. Finally, the cramped cabin aboard the Bismarck becomes their intimate playground, where Garrett introduces Clara to the pleasure of submission and they explore their passion in every way possible.
Clara and Garrett want a future together, but each holds a secret that if revealed could cost them everything. When danger closes in, they have to choose between protecting themselves or the whole of London.
I hope you have a wonderful day and a fabulous week.
Happy Writing!
Weekend Writing Warriors-It’s huge!

I’m taking a break from Blindsided to share with you a snippet from my upcoming steampunk release From Prussia With Love, book 1 in the Victoria’s Secret Agents series. Yes, I went there;). The last time you saw Clara and Garrett she had been working on getting a tour of the cargo hold so she could continue her investigation. He had been intrigued and a tad suspicious of her, but after showing her around every part of the dirigible-and their flirting reached peak levels-he finally takes her to the cargo hold. We are in Garrett’s point of view.
“Skids of boxes and crates were stacked back-to-back with limited space between them, just enough to walk through; a few lamps scattered through the length of the hold offered dim light that barely showed them the back wall. He picked up a steam torch which came to life in his hand with a click and a whirr. “Is it everything you’d expected?”
She moved past him, turning as much as the narrow space permitted; her gaze roved about the vast hold. “It’s so big,” her words were a breathy whisper, “It’s huge.” Her eyes sparkled with the mischief he’d come to enjoy during their exchange.
“It is indeed quite large. In fact, the more you…explore, the bigger you’ll find it.”
He bit his tongue to suppress his laughter at the look she threw him, but it became more and more difficult when her lips twitched. “I’m sure you’ll be only too happy to show me,” she said.”
From Prussia With Love releases August 25th from Loose Id. April Martinez has done another wonderful job with the cover. See of you can find the clockwork mouse.

Cover and Title Reveal!
I am super-duper excited to share the cover, book and series title for my upcoming release:
*drumroll*
From Prussia With Love is book 1 in the Victoria’s Secret Agents series and release August 25, 2015.
It takes place in the same words as Dirigibles Are Forever, book 0.5 in Victoria’s Secret Agents, and Holly and Jack make an appearance;).
Here is the blurb:
Clara Redbeck has one goal: to prove to the sods at work—and to herself—that the best man for the job can be a woman. To do that, she must prevent a traitor from blowing London to bits. If only the dashing first mate of the dirigible she’d been tasked to plunder didn’t set her aflame.

What do you think? Isn’t the cover gorgeous? Let me know if you can find the clockwork mouse;).

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes a little bit after last week’s. They have finally ended up in the cargo hold, Clara’s goal for this trip. The tension between them is still running high. When they come to an end of the tour he asks her if it has lived up to her expectations. She’s non-committal. Here is Garrett’s response. We are in his point of view.
“Not good enough. I can’t let you out of here until we’ve fulfilled all your expectations.”
Even in the low light he saw the green sparks in her eyes growing bolder.
His cock hardened further.
She licked her lips, raising his body temperature few hundred degrees. She walked toward him, the definite swish of her hips twisting the heat inside him. He wanted to lay her out and feast.
Clara didn’t stop until she pressed close. “I believe the time for slow is over.”
What works, what doesn’t?
It’s Sunday and the sun is (mostly) shining. Fingers crossed there will be some time to enjoy it;).
Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Writing!

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes a little bit after last week’s. Garrett is taking Clara on the tour she’d asked for, but the tension between them is growing hotter and hotter. For the first time in her career Clara is struggling to focus on a mission. Just before this snippet she’s forcing herself back to the task and asking Garrett to see the cargo hold. We are in her point of view.
His brows rose; his eyes filled with a hint of suspicion. “Why would you want to look at a bunch of boxes stacked on skids?”
She waved him off, “I don’t want to look at the individual boxes, silly. I want to see how you managed to squish all the cargo into the bay and I want to see it all in one place.” She smiled. “Remember, it’s all about the size for me.”
His suspicion didn’t ease completely- a darkness filled his green eyes for a second but then cleared out again and his lips twitched as if to cover for his mental misstep. “There are plenty of things aboard the Bismarck which have a girth impressive enough to warrant your admiration.”
What works, what doesn’t?
Today is another insane day (what happened to Sunday’s being lovely and relaxing), so it may be evening or even tomorrow before I make it around. The sun is finally shining in Toronto! I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. This last winter has been endless and horrible, so not having to wear 13 layers is wonderful.

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes a little bit after the last one. Garrett and Clara are having a bit of a difference of opinion on how the tour of the dirigible should be conducted. After a few intense moments he is showing her around, but Clara is struggling with his method. We are in her point of view.
“On the outside he was the perfect gentleman, courteous, charming and thoroughly entertaining. And so very, very helpful. He did not miss any opportunity to assist with the stairs, a narrow walkway or an obstacle in her way. At the end of the hour and a half she wanted to scream with need. His touch drove her crazy.
She’d tried to give as good as she got, but struggled to see the same response in him that she experienced herself.
It disconcerted Clara how easily Dewhurst distracted her. She’d always taken pride in her focus, in her ambition to do the best she possibly could. She had to.”
What works, what doesn’t?
Today is an insane day for me, so it may be evening by the time I can make my rounds. I missed last week as I was at Romancing the Capital, the first Canadian Romance Writer and Reader conference in Ottawa. It was an absolute blast and so popular that the author slots for 2016 were gone within a few hours. I had been to a couple of the big conferences, but this was the first where everything was about the readers and it was wonderful. I had opportunity to wear my steampunk gear and introduce new readers to my mash-up of past and future;).

S is for Steampunk!
Today I’m over at the Nice Girls Writing Naughty talking about Steampunk as part of the A-Z Challenge.

I apologise for not coming around last week. I was caught by the Cold To End All Colds and could make it. But I’m better know and looking forward to catching up!
I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes directly after last week’s. Garrett takes Clara on the tour she had asked for, but not to the places she really wants to see. Last week ended on “But the reward for going slow can make up for everything else.” and we’re in Garrett’s point of view.
“They stared at each other. Each of them caught in the other’s gaze. Garrett had to clench his jaw to stop a growl from escaping when she wet her lower lip with her tongue. The seconds stretched into minutes. Every breath he took was filled with her scent. All he had to do was lift his hands and fill himself with her.
But that would be rushing things.
He forced strength into his limbs and stepped back. “Maybe you should try it.”
What works, what doesn’t? This is the final paragraph in his pov, so things will move along at a slightly different pace from here.
The first draft for FPWL is DONE! I’m still missing the tie-up-everything scene at the end, but that will have to wait until I work through the whole book because so much has changed since I first started writing. For now the villain is taken care of and they said those three words a romance needs. Next it will be on to revisions: hacksaw and swords away!

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet is a little after last week’s. Garrett is taking her on a tour of the dirigible. They have a difference of opinion on where he should take her. Their first stop is the dining room and when Clara asks what’s next Garrett replies:
“The Writing Room.” He bit the inside of his cheek to contain his smile when she rolled her eyes.
“Of course, the writing room.” She tightened her grip on his arm and threw him a glance from beneath her lashes. “Sometimes going slow can be very, very boring.”
All levity disappeared. He leaned close enough to feel her breath on his face. “But the reward for going slow can make up for everything else.”
What works, what doesn’t?
The book that will not end did it again. It threw me yet another curve ball. This time the ball includes me deleting a few thousand words and taking a new direction. I like this new direction and am hoping that things will finally come together. I just wish I’d come up with it before. But that’ll teach me to plan ahead better;).

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. I’ve had two characters walk onto the page and inform me they are the heroes in the next book, so I guess there will be three of them. Now I just need to figure out their stories and who their heroine is;).
This snippet is immediately after last week’s, which ended with Garrett taking Clara on a tour of the dirigible. They’s been flirting quite furiously;). We’re still in Garrett’s point of view and last week’s snippet ended with him saying “Let’s start with the basics and work ourselves up to the more advanced destinations.”
“She raised a brow at him. Fire heated her eyes, giving the grey a green shimmer. “Maybe I’m not interested in the boring basics. Maybe I want to go straight to the more advanced…destinations.”
The slight pause fanned the flames racing through him, raising his awareness to new heights. “Maybe I prefer a somewhat slower pace.” He opened the door on his left. “This is the dining room.”
What works, what doesn’t?
I have a plan for today! Get up early (that happened already;), make my rounds with the WeWriWa, go to my exercise class and then I will write the final 7 scenes in this book! Fingers crossed I can make it. Things always turn out longer than I plan, but hopefully I can at least get the bones on the page.
Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Writing!
