Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
Today’s snippet is from my brand new release Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. Danger by Dalliance is a sequel to Rescue by Ruin, but either book can be read independently. Comment here for a chance to win a copy of Danger by Dalliance or a steampunk necklace and earrings.
Here is the opening to Danger by Dalliance.
“Miss Sarah Emma Rigdon wrinkled her nose and turned her back on her best friend since childhood. A gasp went through the crowd of people surrounding them. She wanted to turn back, show her support, be there for Beatrice. But she couldn’t afford to draw the attention of gossipmongers.
She continued on with measured steps, ignoring the whispers and stares around her. Her grip tightened on the handle of the bag she carried. Her purse over her other wrist, she walked along the path. Only a few more steps, you’re nearly there; Sarah kept her face expressionless, pretending not to see or hear anything.”
If you have read Rescue by Ruin you may remember this scene from a different point of view;).
I am hard at work at revising the Christmas novella I’ve sold to Loose Id and adding words to Tangled Redemption. I am back to needing more hours in the day and a full-time job that doesn’t require most of my brain function. Oh, and I desperately need to find a solution to my procrastination;).
Happy Sunday, Happy Easter to those who celebrate and Happy Writing!
Danger by Dalliance
Sarah Rigdon is desperate. Penniless with taxes due, she can either beg mercy from the ruthless tax collector or turn to the last man she wants to ask for help. Archer Latimer stirs desires no proper lady would ever admit to. Though their meetings always end in quarrels, she can’t deny the heat between them. When he agrees to help, Sarah thinks her luck has turned. But she should have known nothing with Archer is ever easy.
Archer and his lover Warren Dorvee have spent years searching for the right woman to complete their family. Both believe luscious Sarah is the one and now have a chance to pursue her. After all, the price of Archer’s help is for Sarah to pose for Warren’s latest painting. Nude.
But trust has to be earned and a crisis in London threatens their love. The three must navigate through lust, lies and secrets or risk being torn apart forever.
Inside Scoop: Contains m/m, GLBT and ménage.

Today I have another snippet from Rescue by Ruin, a Victorian steampunk story, for you. Beatrice and Vaughn are currently on the Venia, a dirigible of ill-repute, and he has asked her to dance. Due to their location things are not quite as you would find them in any other ballroom. Please forgive my over-use of semicolons;).
“No one knew who she was; in this moment propriety no longer restricted her. Yes, before she left she needed to remove her mask and find a way to be recognized, but that wasn’t her priority right now.
Making memories was.
Bea slowly moved her hand until she caressed his nape with her fingertips. For a moment she wished her gloves off, wished to experience the feel of him directly against her flesh. His muscles bunched beneath her touch; he spread his palm on the middle of her lower back. Butterflies danced through her stomach. Vaughn and her separated slightly and their gazes met.”
Thank you for stopping by. I am currently neck deep in edits for DbD, the sequel to Rescue by Ruin, which means I won’t be online a lot.
Have a wonderful first weekend in January 2014.
Forced to marry a violent man, Beatrice knows only one way out—ruin her reputation. She climbs aboard the Venia, a dirigible of ill repute, for a masquerade. Bea does not expect to run into Vaughn Kemple, the third Duke of Missenden, who eight months ago left her without an explanation. Feeling secure behind her mask, she decides Vaughn will be the one to ruin her. She may not get to spend forever with this man she still loves, but at least she can have one night of pleasure.
But a mask is not enough to hide her identity. Vaughn recognizes Bea, shocked to find her aboard an airship where sexual freedom isn’t just a thought, it’s celebrated. But her actions are far from innocent. Captivated, he’s determined to make her his.
The heat between them flares, but Vaughn is torn between desire and honor. Bea is afraid to risk her heart on a man she can’t trust. And when her future husband arrives on the scene, it’s more than their hearts in danger.
Here is my Sneak Peek Sunday snippet from the book that will never end or that is how it feels;). It is still the sequel to “Rescue by Ruin” and in my head called Sexy Steampunk 2. I really need to come up with a proper title…
“His lover now tenderly kissed the bite mark on his neck and gently rubbed his nipples, helping him to slowly come down.
“I love you.” Warren rubbed his cheek against Archer’s chest, wanting to curl into his partner and never move again. Whatever happened next with Miss Rigdon he knew it would change them. Most likely on a fundamental level.
As Archer wrapped his arms around Warren and said “I love you”, Warren could only hope that it would be change for the better.”

Here is my Sneak Peek Sunday from my current, unnamed WIP. It is the sequel to Rescue by Ruin.
“Warren smiled, love and arousal bringing out the gold in his eyes. “You had enough tension racing through you to crack a wall.” He rubbed his fingertips across Archer’s cheek. “What happened? Has the indomitable Miss Rigdon thrown you in a spin again?”
Archer sank onto the sofa, which was wide enough they could lie side by side, and leaned into Warren’s touch. When they’d moved in together four years ago, well aware of what would happen if anyone ever discovered their true relationship, they’d sworn never to lie to each other.
He leaned forward and kissed Warren. “She is the one for me.”
Have a great week!
