Weekend Writing Warriors-Dirigibles Are Forever Snippet 9
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
This is the final snippet from my sexy steampunk novella Dirigibles Are Forever. I’ll need to leave some secrets for you to explore (and it’s January, so a Christmas novella is a little out of date;).
Last week we learned that Jack had a very good reason for being at the London Royal Port Authority. I’m moving a bit forward to one of my favourite snippets. Holly and Jack have finished with the busy traffic and the sky is empty due to the bad weather. They get a little closer. Holly may have mentioned that she’s feeling a certain hunger and that there are numerous ways to sat said hunger. Jack speaks first and we’re in Holly’s point of view.
“Give me an example.” His voice had also roughened.
Could she do it? Even if she wanted more than tonight—which she’d promised herself she did not—he’d had ample opportunity to show he was on the same page.
He hadn’t.
This was for her.
She licked her lower lip. “One night,” she whispered. “No rules, no boundaries. Only what we can do for each other.”
I hope you had a fabulous start to the New Year! May 2015 be an amazing and fabulous year for all of us;).
I’m so close to finishing FPWL, so close I can actually see the end…or at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m not looking at the outline and all the details I still need to wrap up…;).
Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Writing!

Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.
Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.
When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.
But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?
Weekend Writing Warriors-Dirigibles Are Forever Snippet 8

I’m continuing with my sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever (currently on sale at $2.71). I’ll have one last snippet next week and then I’ll move on to something new. Maybe FPWL, the companion novel, or something completely different.
Last week we discovered how Jack felt about Holly and her plans to leave. This week we’ll learn a little bit about why he is at the London Royal Port Authority in the first place. I had to get a tiny bit creative with the punctuation to give you the full paragraph.
“His gaze narrowed; his muscles tensed in readiness-there you are. “Bismarck, this is Tower Two. Bismarck, this is Tower Two.”
“I hear y…Tower Two. Plea…give us unseren Kurs.” The heavy Prussian accent echoed through their connection.
Jack understood enough German to know the Bismarck had asked for their course, but he saw no reason to be helpful—or polite—to an enemy of the Empire. “I am sorry, Bismarck, please repeat.” And there was no way in hell he would allow them to unload their cargo tonight. Not until he had time to pay the Bismarck a visit.”
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I’ve dug down deep and have been pretty much glued to my laptop for the last three days. I’m quite impressed with myself for pounding out around 16k since Tuesday (and the Saturday night is still young. I’m hoping to make it to 18k, which probably means staying up until 2am again;), especially as FPWL has made me actively run away from my computer. I have no idea yet how much is actually usable, but at least I have something to edit;).
I just wish I’d had a little bit time to read…
Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Writing!

I’m continuing with my sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever.
Last week Holly decided to use her final night at the London Royal Port Authority to leave her grief behind and start her life again by seducing Jack Smith. I’ve moved on and we’re now in Jack’s point of view. Holly has joined him in the tower and told him tonight was her last shift, something he wasn’t too happy about, but the line of dirigibles waiting to land made it impossible to respond fully.
“Jack fought to focus on his conversations with the dirigible captains or navigators and not on the seductive woman beside him. Confidence aroused him, and Mrs. Holly Acklin carried a dirigible load of confidence.
Her tall body with curves in all the right places was another tick on his list-he’d imagined her lush lips on all parts of him. One place in particular made him want to groan with lust.
Her stubborn chin and some of the intense conversations they’d shared over tea and coffee showed him she didn’t back down from an argument. Her wild brown curls she regularly failed to tame and her hot, chestnut-brown eyes were just the icing on the cake.
She was close to being the perfect woman-confident, alluring, and able to stand on her own two feet as she’d demonstrated since the death of her botanist husband.
The right woman at the absolute worst time.”
I hope you’re ready for the holidays and can actually enjoy it. After having worked in retail for a very long time I’m no longer that fussed about Christmas, but I’m looking forward to the time off;). Emma and I are going to huddle down and I’m planning to dig into FPWL. Fingers crossed I’ll make progress.
Whatever you plans, Merry Christmas!

5 Star Review for Dirigibles Are Forever!!!
Super-Squee! Michelle from Sweet-N-Sassy Book A Holics has given Dirigibles Are Forever a 5 STAR REVIEW!! *Happy Dance*
~~~Michelle’s ★★★★★ Review~~~
Dirigibles Are Forever was a HOT read…. Holly has mourned the death of her husband and now wants a wild night of passion with none other than Jack Smith. He is hot, tempting and makes her tingle in all the right places. I love a book with a headstrong lead female character who can handle her own.
After they are snowed in, Holly and Jack take the chance and go head on into acting on their heated passion…. Holy HOT lovin…..Good lord I needed a fan after reading some of the best sex scenes I have read (You’ll also need a cold shower after them).
I really enjoyed this book and Tina Christopher does an excellent job in keeping the book flowing. The characters were well developed which kept your interest. This book has it all….lies, deceit, panty melting hot sex and 2 very interesting characters.
I’m continuing with my sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever, which is out now! *happy dance* If you comment here there is a very, very (did I mention very;) good chance for you to win the steampunk jewellery I’m giving away to celebrate the release.
Last week Holly decided to give her boss Mr. Tannenbaum one final shiftas Aether traffic controller. I have moved forward and it is now Christmas Eve. She has arrived at work excited and a little apprehensive. She’s getting ready to head up to the tower.
“You will seduce Jack Smith tonight. She would step out of the protective bubble she’d only recently realized she’d surrounded herself with after David’s death. Today would be the first day of a new Holly. Or rather the return of the old Holly who’d disappeared after finding her husband’s dead body in their tent during a botanist expedition to the Amazon.
She didn’t want to hide any longer.
She wanted to live again.
And one passionate night of sex would set her on her new path.
Holly exhaled and closed her locker with a slam.”
FPWL, the next book in the series, is killing me. It has been suggested that I sit down with a glass of wine or other alcohol when I next try to write to shut off my inner editor and just push through. This advice came from at least 4 other authors, so I assume there’s something to it;). I don’t like the taste of alcohol, but I will try it. Wish me luck!
Have a great Sunday and as always Happy Writing!
I am very excited to introduce you to Jack Smith, hero of Dirigibles Are Forever.
Jack is an agent for Special Branch in 1890s London. He has been living in a world of secrets and lies for a long time. Holidays are not really on his Long Range Visualization Terminal, especially if he is undercover on a mission. His cover is that of an Aether Traffic Controller at the London Royal Port Authority. No problem. He’s a chameleon and able to adapt to every scenario. Except this time he has a supervisor who dominates his thoughts and fantasies.
Holly is just gorgeous and he wants nothing more than to take the next step, but she is the right woman at the worst possible time. He’s working on Christmas Eve because this is the one night when he can fulfill his mission. Of course best laid plans always explode to cinders. London is experiencing an unexpectedly white Christmas, meaning Holly and he are snowed in and “trapped” at the dirigible station. Then Holly asks him for one night, no rules, no boundaries, only what they can do for each other.
Jack’s now has to choose between his duty and what he’s been dreaming about for months. Guess what he decides to do?
The idea of this blog hop is to share with you what our heroes get up to over the holidays. Let me give you a snippet…
“Before she could worry over Jack and his similarities and dissimilarities to her dead husband, the subject of her obsession returned. Jack carried her Dewar flask and a mug in one hand and a wet cloth in the other. She raised her brows at him, but he only smiled.
Holly couldn’t ask about it as the second vessel had reached transfer distance. “There it is again.” The same inconsistent blip appeared on the LRVT, but this time much farther west than the previous time. And once again it was just that one flash and nothing more.
Jack poured her a cup of tea. “I added the milk downstairs.”
“Thank you.” She had a sip. “Perfect.” She returned to the LRVT and engaged with the navigator of the Nimrod. Or at least she tried, as that was when Jack sank to his knees beside her and pushed the blanket up so her lower legs were uncovered. She covered the speaking tube. “What are you doing?”
He didn’t say anything, only shot her a look that had her nipples tightening and her pussy moistening. Once again, fire burned in his amazing eyes.
He twisted her chair so she was slightly tilted away from her LRVT. He moved between her legs and forced her to open them. The blanket slipped to the floor, forgotten.
Jack pushed up the shirt she’d purloined from him until her thighs were completely uncovered.
Holly pressed the speaking tube against her chest as he used the hot moist washcloth to clean away the marks of their lovemaking. She wanted to moan when he rubbed the rough cloth across her sensitive inner thighs. He pulled a second towel out of his back pocket and stroked the dry fabric in the wake of the wet.
Then he leaned forward and kissed the skin he’d just cleaned.
Her head fell back and the speaking tube dropped out of her hand. He retrieved the tube and passed it to her. His complete silence and knowing smile elevated the tension.
She had no idea what he planned.
And it excited her beyond belief.
Jack gently pushed her legs wider and kissed his way from her knee to the curve where hip and thigh met. He licked the crease where her leg ended and her pelvis began. She’d never known how sensitive that stretch of skin was.
When he pressed the moist towel directly onto her pussy, she jerked and whimpered. Her hand clenched around the speaking tube. The wet heat after the cool room air was a shock, but an exciting one.
Jack slowly pushed one finger covered in the cloth inside her, cleaning her thoroughly. The slightly rough material scraped along her inside walls, raising the sensitivity level higher and higher.
He moved his finger back and forth and her arousal skyrocketed. He pulled his cloth-covered finger out and dropped the towel. Then he leaned forward and blew on her.
Her hips jolted and she screamed.
Jack held her hips down and licked her pussy from one end to the other.
Noise echoed in Holly’s ears, but she couldn’t place it until he lifted her hand still holding the speaking tube.
Holly froze. Heat filled her cheeks. It was the navigator of the Nimrod shouting in her ear. She thrust a hand into Jack’s hair, trying to make him stop, but he only disentangled her hand and held it to the side. “Jack.” She gestured with the speaking tube, reminding him they weren’t completely private.
But he continued to lick her opening, making her wetter and wetter. Holly wanted nothing more than to turn off the LRVT, but she couldn’t in good conscience do that. And with the speaking tube in her other hand, she had no way to make him stop.
Jack licked across her clit, freeing it from the protective skin cover.
She pushed her hips into his face and panted, desperately trying to even out her breathing so the Nimrod wouldn’t notice anything. She swallowed and lifted the tube. “Nimrod, this…this is…is Tower One—Oh Lord! “
Jack tapped her bundle of sensitive nerves with his tongue and she lost all concentration. He pulled back the tiniest bit and looked up from between her splayed thighs. “I believe they require coordinates.”
She clenched the speaking tube against her chest again. “Stop while I talk to them. I can’t focus while you do this.”
One brow rose, and his smile turned dark. “No,” he said and went back to licking her.”
Well, I’m sure you can imagine what happens next;). Dirigibles Are Forever is available at all ebook retailers.
What would you do with your hunk at Christmas?
Now, this is a Hunky Holiday Blog Hop and that means I need to add some pictures.
Happy Holidays and a wonderful start to the New Year!
Dirigibles Are Forever Release Day and Contest!
Today is the day! I am so very, very excited to celebrate the release of Dirigibles Are Forever, my super-sexy Christmas novella set in an alternative Victorian London, filled with adventure, secrets and fun, and a dash of James Bond.
I love this story! It was a blast to write it and Holly and Jack have a special place in my heart. Both of them face difficult decisions and Holly is working hard to find her place in the world. It is not the Victorian London you are used to, but a London where Her Majesty Queen Victoria passed the Equal Rights Act and women can do whatever they want…including being Aether Traffic Controllers;). But Holly no longer believes it is enough. She wants more, but has not yet found what this more is.
I’m continuing with my upcoming sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever. It releases next Tuesday (Squee!) from Loose Id and is swashbuckling, tongue-in-cheek Christmas fun with a touch of James Bond, hence the title.
Holly stormed into her boss’ office and resigned. Then she discovered that Jack Smith was to work with her that Christmas Eve and she had an idea. This week she comes to a decision:
“Maybe…maybe I spoke too hastily. It would be rather unkind of me to leave you on such short notice, especially as Mr. Smith hasn’t worked the busy Christmas Eve before.” She had no idea if she could go through with it, but this would be her last opportunity to do something she had fantasized about for months.
The delight in Tannenbaum’s eyes deepened and a smile spread across his lips. “Really? Mrs. Acklin, that would be wonderful and very generous of you.”
Holly clasped her hands before her. “Christmas Eve will be my last day of work.
His smile dropped. “Still? That’s a shame, but I will not stand in your way.”
I’m continuing with my upcoming sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever. Yes, I finally have all the details to share including a gorgeous cover by the wonderful April Martinez;). It releases December 9th, 2014 from Loose Id and is swashbuckling, tongue-in-cheek Christmas fun with a touch of James Bond, hence the title.
The story starts with Holly storming into her boss’ office and resigning. Last week Mr. Tannenbaum informed her that Jack Smith, a member from the Cardiff office who joined the London Royal Port Authority four months ago, is also supposed to work the same Christmas Eve shift Holly resigned over, making her thoughts wander. This week they wander some more until she has an idea…
“And his smile-his features were too roughly hewn to be called handsome, but his warm smile melted many things, including women’s knees. More than once Holly had needed to pinch herself to remember where she was.
She had clung to the idea of him as a new member of staff, as someone who required her assistance. Otherwise her thoughts tended to take very different and rather inappropriate paths.
Paths that involved tingles across her body and moisture between her thighs-and copious use of her personal manipulator.
Completely inappropriate.
But if I’m leaving anyway? the idea came out of nowhere. If I’m never going to see him again, I can fulfill a fantasy; no one will ever know.”
And here is the cover!
I apologize for not adding the genre when I added my link to the WeWriWa page, I saw it too late. I write the naughty stuff;).
I’m continuing with my upcoming sexy steampunk Christmas novella. It releases December 9th, 2014 from Loose Id and is swashbuckling, tongue-in-cheek Christmas fun. After storming into her boss’ office and resigning we discovered a little bit more why she behaved that way last week. Today’s snippet is only a few lines after last week’s. She has just discovered that Jack Smith, a member from the Cardiff office who joined the London Royal Port Authority four months ago, is also supposed to work that Christmas Eve shift. And as usual, a man may change things…
“Images of the man who had arrived four months ago flashed through her mind. The tall, rugged figure. The black hair and azure eyes that captured her every time he looked at her. The edge of danger surrounding him.
Since Her Majesty Queen Victoria had passed the Equal Rights Act shortly after she took the throne, men had needed to adjust to changes in their lives. Even now, nearly five decades after the law passed, Holly still found some men staring at her with a frown when they realized they were required to follow her orders. As if she couldn’t do the same work as good if not better as her male colleagues.
But Jack Smith had never responded in that manner.”
I have seen two preliminary covers for DAF and they were both utterly incredible;). I hope I can share the final cover with you very soon! FPWL, my current WIP, is still fighting me tooth and nail for every word, but I’m doing my best to push through. Even if I only write 100 words it’s 100 more than I had. Hope all the NaNo-ers are doing well and are getting ready for the final sprint.
Have a great Sunday and as always Happy Writing!
