Thank you all so much for your kind words about my new and still slightly fragile WIP. The encouragement you have shared is wonderful:).

The new story so far has no title and no blurb. Last week a high-end SUV drove up to Jace’s garage (which still needs a name if you have suggestions;) and the driver did not appear to be in a happy mood as she climbed down.

“She strode toward him, frustration rolling off her in waves. But something else as well, something that made the hairs on the back of his neck rise and tension invade his body: fear.

“Good morning,” she said, attempting a smile.

“Morning,” he replied, intrigued that she tried not to let her feelings affect her manners. “Jace Deegan, owner.” That kind of restraint did not fit with what he’d expected from the driver of the SUV. “How can I help?” He reminded himself that it was his job to be nice to customers. Usually Savannah took care of these kinds of things, but she was off today.

More importantly, he needed to remember he was only here to help with her car-he’d hung up his damsel-in-distress-saving shoes when he came home from Afghanistan.”

What works, what doesn’t? Is the opening compelling enough for you to continue reading?

I somehow stumbled into writing about an ex-soldier who is now a mechanic. Visuals usually help, so here are a couple of inspirational pictures (in case you’re wondering, Jace would have no reason to roll around in grease and he’s wearing a shirt, so these are just thought starters;).

After an insane amount of work and travelling I’ve finally reached a point where I can join the Warriors again! I missed you guys and can’t wait to read about what you’ve been up to.

My happy news is that FPWL, my steampunk companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever, has been picked up by Loose Id. I’m neck-deep in my first round of edits. I’m looking forward to sharing the finished story with the world. Because of the long break I’ve decided to share a brand new project with you. It doesn’t have a title yet and no blurb. I also have no idea if it’ll ever see the light of day. It’s something completely different for me. So far I’m enjoying the writing.

“Jace Deegan looked up from the fan belt he was installing as he heard a car drive into his forecourt. Beside him Reacher wagged his tail and jumped to his feet. A top of the line luxury SUV, about as exciting as an extended golf tournament, pulled up. The driver’s long black hair made him think soccer mom with misaligned tires due to hitting speed bumps too fast. He waved Reacher to wait and walked out onto the forecourt.

She came to a stop and climbed out.

His back straightened as soon as she came fully into view. He stopped rubbing his greasy hands and tension mirroring hers invaded his body. She slammed her door so sharply he flinched and had to remind himself he was no longer in Afghanistan and that in this area of Chicago gun shots were the exception and not the norm.

She marched toward him, frustration rolling off her in waves.”

What works, what doesn’t? Is the opening compelling enough for you to continue reading?

The snippet is pretty raw. I’m trying Candace Haven’s Fast Draft technique, which means no editing until the book is done. We’ll see how long I can keep it up;).

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes a little bit after last week’s. They have finally ended up in the cargo hold, Clara’s goal for this trip. The tension between them is still running high. When they come to an end of the tour he asks her if it has lived up to her expectations. She’s non-committal. Here is Garrett’s response. We are in his point of view.

“Not good enough. I can’t let you out of here until we’ve fulfilled all your expectations.”

Even in the low light he saw the green sparks in her eyes growing bolder.

His cock hardened further.

She licked her lips, raising his body temperature few hundred degrees. She walked toward him, the definite swish of her hips twisting the heat inside him. He wanted to lay her out and feast.

Clara didn’t stop until she pressed close. “I believe the time for slow is over.”

What works, what doesn’t?

It’s Sunday and the sun is (mostly) shining. Fingers crossed there will be some time to enjoy it;).

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet comes a little bit after last week’s. Garrett is taking Clara on the tour she’d asked for, but the tension between them is growing hotter and hotter. For the first time in her career Clara is struggling to focus on a mission. Just before this snippet she’s forcing herself back to the task and asking Garrett to see the cargo hold. We are in her point of view.

His brows rose; his eyes filled with a hint of suspicion. “Why would you want to look at a bunch of boxes stacked on skids?”

She waved him off, “I don’t want to look at the individual boxes, silly. I want to see how you managed to squish all the cargo into the bay and I want to see it all in one place.” She smiled. “Remember, it’s all about the size for me.”

His suspicion didn’t ease completely- a darkness filled his green eyes for a second but then cleared out again and his lips twitched as if to cover for his mental misstep. “There are plenty of things aboard the Bismarck which have a girth impressive enough to warrant your admiration.”

What works, what doesn’t?

Today is another insane day (what happened to Sunday’s being lovely and relaxing), so it may be evening or even tomorrow before I make it around. The sun is finally shining in Toronto! I cannot tell you how excited I am about this. This last winter has been endless and horrible, so not having to wear 13 layers is wonderful.

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet is a little after last week’s. Garrett is taking her on a tour of the dirigible. They have a difference of opinion on where he should take her. Their first stop is the dining room and when Clara asks what’s next Garrett replies:

“The Writing Room.” He bit the inside of his cheek to contain his smile when she rolled her eyes.

“Of course, the writing room.” She tightened her grip on his arm and threw him a glance from beneath her lashes. “Sometimes going slow can be very, very boring.”

All levity disappeared. He leaned close enough to feel her breath on his face. “But the reward for going slow can make up for everything else.”

What works, what doesn’t?

The book that will not end did it again. It threw me yet another curve ball. This time the ball includes me deleting a few thousand words and taking a new direction. I like this new direction and am hoping that things will finally come together. I just wish I’d come up with it before. But that’ll teach me to plan ahead better;).

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and the beginning of a trilogy. I’ve had two characters walk onto the page and inform me they are the heroes in the next book, so I guess there will be three of them. Now I just need to figure out their stories and who their heroine is;).

This snippet is immediately after last week’s, which ended with Garrett taking Clara on a tour of the dirigible. They’s been flirting quite furiously;). We’re still in Garrett’s point of view and last week’s snippet ended with him saying “Let’s start with the basics and work ourselves up to the more advanced destinations.”

“She raised a brow at him. Fire heated her eyes, giving the grey a green shimmer. “Maybe I’m not interested in the boring basics. Maybe I want to go straight to the more advanced…destinations.”

The slight pause fanned the flames racing through him, raising his awareness to new heights. “Maybe I prefer a somewhat slower pace.” He opened the door on his left. “This is the dining room.”

What works, what doesn’t?

I have a plan for today! Get up early (that happened already;), make my rounds with the WeWriWa, go to my exercise class  and then I will write the final 7 scenes in this book! Fingers crossed I can make it. Things always turn out longer than I plan, but hopefully I can at least get the bones on the page.

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and hopefully the beginning of a trilogy. This snippet is immediately after last week’s, which ended with Garrett commenting on her need to see everything with “I’m unsure if everything is quite appropriate.” We are still in Garrett’s point of view.

“Her smiled deepened and the spark inside her grey eyes raised his body heat. “You let me worry about what is appropriate.”

Garrett studied her for a moment and then offered her his arm. “As you wish.”

Clara muttered under her breath. He didn’t catch every word, but for a moment he thought he’d heard “You have no idea what I wish for.”

He grinned and led her along passenger corridor. “Let’s start with the basics and work ourselves up to the more advanced destinations.”

What works, what doesn’t?

Thank you for all the great suggestions last week:). I’ve started to work out on Sunday mornings, so I’ll be around a little later. I’m loving the fact that Toronto has had moments of weather above freezing. I’m still wearing my big coat, but I’m hoping it won’t be necessary soon. Happy first spring weekend!

I’m continuing to share from my current work in progress FPWL. The first draft is mostly done, but I made some changes in the second half of the book, which means I now have to go back and ensure continuity. It’s a companion novel to Dirigibles Are Forever and hopefully the beginning of a trilogy. It’s still pretty raw, so please be gentle;). This snippet comes directly after last week’s and we are in Clara’s point of view.

“A human steward, his nametag identified him as Jens Althoff, greeted her at the top. He looked to be in that stage where he hadn’t quite finished growing nor had quite put on the muscle that made him a man. “Wilkommen, Fräulein Riesenbeck; wir sind so glücklich Sie an Bord zu begrüßen und wünschen Ihnen einen wunderbaren Flug.”

Clara replied in accent-free German as she handed him her ticket. “Thank you for your kind welcome. I am excited to be here and am looking forward to an enjoyable flight.” She batted her eyelashes a few times. “It’s the first time I’m riding a dirigible this big,” her breathy sigh at the end was timed perfectly.

Jens blushed.”

This is the final snippet from my sexy steampunk novella Dirigibles Are Forever. I’ll need to leave some secrets for you to explore (and it’s January, so a Christmas novella is a little out of date;).

Last week we learned that Jack had a very good reason for being at the London Royal Port Authority. I’m moving a bit forward to one of my favourite snippets. Holly and Jack have finished with the busy traffic and the sky is empty due to the bad weather. They get a little closer. Holly may have mentioned that she’s feeling a certain hunger and that there are numerous ways to sat said hunger. Jack speaks first and we’re in Holly’s point of view.

“Give me an example.” His voice had also roughened.

Could she do it? Even if she wanted more than tonight—which she’d promised herself she did not—he’d had ample opportunity to show he was on the same page.

He hadn’t.

This was for her.

She licked her lower lip. “One night,” she whispered. “No rules, no boundaries. Only what we can do for each other.”

I hope you had a fabulous start to the New Year! May 2015 be an amazing and fabulous year for all of us;).

I’m so close to finishing FPWL, so close I can actually see the end…or at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m not looking at the outline and all the details I still need to wrap up…;).

Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.

Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.

When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.

But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?

I’m continuing with my sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever (currently on sale at $2.71). I’ll have one last snippet next week and then I’ll move on to something new. Maybe FPWL, the companion novel, or something completely different.

Last week we discovered how Jack felt about Holly and her plans to leave. This week we’ll learn a little bit about why he is at the London Royal Port Authority in the first place. I had to get a tiny bit creative with the punctuation to give you the full paragraph.

“His gaze narrowed; his muscles tensed in readiness-there you are. “Bismarck, this is Tower Two. Bismarck, this is Tower Two.”

I hear y…Tower Two. Plea…give us unseren Kurs.” The heavy Prussian accent echoed through their connection.

Jack understood enough German to know the Bismarck had asked for their course, but he saw no reason to be helpful—or polite—to an enemy of the Empire. “I am sorry, Bismarck, please repeat.” And there was no way in hell he would allow them to unload their cargo tonight. Not until he had time to pay the Bismarck a visit.”

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I’ve dug down deep and have been pretty much glued to my laptop for the last three days. I’m quite impressed with myself for pounding out around 16k since Tuesday (and the Saturday night is still young. I’m hoping to make it to 18k, which probably means staying up until 2am again;), especially as FPWL has made me actively run away from my computer. I have no idea yet how much is actually usable, but at least I have something to edit;).

I just wish I’d had a little bit time to read…
