Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Redemption Snippet 9

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating. better-wewriwa

I am continuing to share parts of Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series. I still don’t have a blurb;). We first meet Sydney in Tangled Hunger, book 2 of the Celestial Surrender series. She ends up kidnapped by Miguel, a Vampire who has the impossible task of balancing the survival of one with that of a galaxy. And then there is Jayden. His one mission is to take out the Big Bad, but now he has to balance her life with his job.

Tangled Redemption is a Sci-Fi story and takes place in a universe inhabited by humans, Vampires and Naema, a race that has been likened to angels. There is a tenuous peace between the three races, but a faction of the Vampires, the Ferals, does not want to bow down to human law. You could say there is a smidgeon of tension between them and the rest of the galaxy, expressed through a kill-on-sight order against them.

In last week’s snippet Sydney came face-to-face with the Big Bad, surprised how the monster responsible for so many deaths and horrors looked so normal. Unbeknown to her Jayden, an undercover agent from the Vampire Council, is in the same room. They work for the same people, but have never met. We are in his point of view.

“Jayden Maywater mentally cursed in every language he could think of. And in some he just made up. What in Jade’s name was Sydney Radnall doing on Nagola? He leaned back in his chair and crossed his legs.

Notification had gone out to all the operatives as soon as the kidnapping in Parvati happened. The intel had also said that Calatrave was involved, but when Jayden had asked where the Spaniard was, he’d been told dealing with a problem. Jayden had not expected this problem to be a civilian Naema who had nearly died at the hands of her husband and then decided to join their operation.

The pictures he’d seen didn’t do her justice.”

For the first time I have received edits for two books at the same time. Both Tangled Redemption and Dirigible Are Forever are in my inbox. It will be interesting to see how I will cope with both of them;). I had an Ah-ha moment for one of the stories I am planning, which is nice. Now I just need to figure out the two other stories that tie into this one.

Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

Sizzling Summer Nights Blog Hop

Welcome, welcome! Thank you so much for stopping by on your JustRomance.Me’s Sizzling Summer Nights Blog Hop.

I hope you are having oodles of fun checking out new authors and catching up with old favourites. There are tons of prizes and excitement to be had and the big grand prize is a 16GB Kindle Fire. Good luck!

I would like to introduce you to the Celestial Surrender universe, inhabited by Humans, Vampires and Naemas.

All my Vampire heroes are mouthwatering and delicious with that extra kick that make women’s knees wobble. Please be advised to stay far, far away from all Vampires with glaring red eyes as they are Ferals and most likely will drain you off your blood after playing with you for some time. Imagine a cat with a mouse.

Naemas have been likened to angels and demons by the humans in this galaxy. They have incredible powers, but to control these require an iron control. With a leader pushing them more and more into a regime of logic and efficiency love has become a rare gift. They used to wear their beautiful and sensual wings with pride, but now they have become an expression of emotions and have to be hidden away. Luckily this is a decree not everyone follows…

Humans may not be as powerful or as strong as Vampires or Naemas, but they have the strength of numbers and keen intelligence. Remember that they come in all shapes and attitudes. Just because they are human doesn’t mean they are weak.

I have just sent Tangled Redemption, book 4 in my Celestial Surrender series, to my critique partner. I cannot wait to find out what she has to say. She has been waiting for this book since I first mentioned the Spaniard in Tangled Shadows. Fingers crossed the book (and the Spaniard) live up to her expectations;). Tangled Redemption finishes the main story arch in the series and will bring almost everything to a conclusion (hey, I have to keep a few loose ends otherwise there are no more stories;).

If you could meet any Paranormal for a hot date, in my world or in any other, who would you like to get close to? Comment for the chance to win a $10 Ellora’s Cave gift card and have a blast on the rest of your trip. Happy Reading!

Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Redemption Snippet 3

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.

I am continuing to share the opening of my WIP, Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series. It is not yet finished and has not been polished;). I don’t have a blurb yet either, but I will try and give you some context.

My heroine is Sydney. We meet her for the first time in Tangled Hunger, book 2 of the Celestial Surrender series. Circumstances I cannot go into without spoiling everything result in her being kidnapped by a Vampire who has the impossible task of balancing the survival of one with that of a galaxy.

This snippet is immediately after last week’s. Sydney has just killed a Feral and faces two more when the man responsible for her kidnapping walks in.

“He appeared to grasp the situation with one look and grabbed the nearest Feral, killing him with a quick twist of that neck. The third attacker froze, his beady eyes jumping between her and Tall, Dark and Dangerous.

Sydney took a couple of steps back to give herself more room. She would fight to the bitter end.

“Honorable Radnall, what are you planning to do?” He was taller than her, something that didn’t happen that often. His skin was darkly tanned and his black eyes gave nothing away. With every movement, every inch of his muscular body, he showed her he was a warrior.

She had trained with men like him, had been taught by them, but she had never managed to best even one of them.”

This is still very raw, so any and all comments are welcome. I will be in the writing cage all day as I am hoping to finish the first draft today, so I won’t come around until later in the day.

Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Redemption Snippet 2

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.

Today I am sharing the opening of my current WIP, Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series.

This snippet is immediately after last week’s and from the opening paragraphs of the story. Sydney faces three Ferals who are not about to invite her for tea and she smiled at them…In order to give you the whole snippet I had to use creative punctuation.

The lead Feral’s gaze narrowed.

She didn’t give him a chance to respond, but leaped and rammed her knee into his groin. He folded over with a whimper; she grabbed a hunk of his hair and slammed the bottom of her palm into his nose. Cartilage crunched as she jammed the shattered bones into his brain.

Eyes wide he dropped to the floor; dead.

Sydney panted; her hand found the cold synth-metal wall of the spaceship for a second, before straightening again. She stopped herself from rubbing her sore hand; the other two Ferals gaped at her. She wanted to smirk, but she’d lost the advantage of surprise-they recovered and converged on her; before they had even taken one step the door slid open and Tall, Dark and Dangerous, the man—no, the Vampire—responsible for her kidnapping, strode in.”

This is still very raw, so any and all comments are welcome.

Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

Great Review for Tangled Hunger

Pauline over at Night Owl Review wrote a wonderful review for Tangled Hunger.

“From the very first moment the reader is plunged into the mystery and action and the explosive sexual tension. I could not read this fast enough and was sorry to see it come to a conclusion.”

“The conflict and the connections jump off the pages, wrap around you and bring you right in to the exploits.”

Thank you, Pauline. I’m glad you enjoyed Tanasha and Duncan’s adventure.

Guest blogging at Paranormal Cravings

Today I’m hanging out with the fabulous Iris over at Paranormal Cravings, talking about Tanasha, the heroine of my latest release Tangled Hunger. Come by and talk to me about your favourite heroines. One lucky commenter will win a copy of Tangled Hunger.

Tangled Hunger Release Day and Give-Away!

Whoopdidooh! Tangled Hunger escapes into the wild today. I am very excited and hope you enjoy reading Tanasha’s and Duncan’s story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

But Release Day is nothing without a give-away!

Comment here and let me know what book touched you the most in the last month or so by Monday 25th June. I’m still collection recommendations for my Chicago trip;). One lucky commenter will receive a copy of Tangled Shadows or Tangled Hunger.

Have a wonderful day and a great start to the weekend!

Tangled Hunger

Tangled Hunger comes out on June 22nd 2012! Wow, this is fast. Grace only handed in the manuscript last week. I am so very excited. I love the cover, such a great representation of Tanasha, and her story is very near and dear to my heart. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it.

Here is the cover again and the blurb.

Tanasha Omeiko is powerless—an unusual and undesirable state for a Naema whose society deems power essential. She struggles to find her place, shunned by all but her best friend, Sydney. When that friend disappears, Tanasha suspects Sydney’s husband of being responsible. To prove him guilty, Tanasha turns to cocky and sexy Vampire PI Duncan O’Clare.

Duncan distrusts Naemas, but when sweet and curvy Tanasha walks into his office, he’s instantly drawn to her. She makes him feel things he hasn’t in years—intrigued, enchanted and inflamed. Tanasha isn’t sure what she feels. Lust and distrust make uneasy bedfellows when she and Duncan pose as lovers to spy on Sydney’s husband.

Thrown way out of her comfort zone, Tanasha must decide if she wants to make this charade reality, risking her heart on a man so far out of her league he could be in another dimension. But Duncan surprises her at every turn. Then she discovers not only her heart depends on her link to Duncan, but also the fate of the galaxy.

Talk about trouble.

It’s up on the Ellora’s Cave website here. If you click the link you can read an excerpt as well.

Squee!

And now back to my sexy steampunk, which has taken unexpected turns;).

The Edits Are In

My lovely and brilliant editor has sent me the edits for Tangled Hunger. Yay, so excited! Grace has a wonderful way of pointing out areas that need improvement, but also points out passages she’s enjoyed or that made her laugh. And she is always patient with my British v. American spelling issues.

I need to finish polishing a contest entry and writing a synopsis by tomorrow evening and then I can dive into Tangled Hunger. I am off work for a few days as I’ve had surgery today. Luckily it was only a small procedure and I’m mostly coherent, just a little tired. The fabulous Gina X. Grant is ensuring I don’t fall flat on my face tonight and hopefully we can chat about my idea for an Ellora’s Cave Quickie, set in my futuristic world, over dinner.

I hope to hand in my edits within a week. Grace will have one last read through and send it off to the publisher. Which means I should have a publication date for Tangled Hunger soon!

I love this part of the process.

Hope you’re also having a great weekend.
