Weekend Writing Warriors-Rescue by Ruin Part 3

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.

Today I have another snippet from Rescue by Ruin, a Victorian steampunk story, for you. Beatrice and Vaughn are currently on the Venia, a dirigible of ill-repute, and he has asked her to dance. Due to their location things are not quite as you would find them in any other ballroom. Please forgive my over-use of semicolons;).

“No one knew who she was; in this moment propriety no longer restricted her. Yes, before she left she needed to remove her mask and find a way to be recognized, but that wasn’t her priority right now.

Making memories was.

Bea slowly moved her hand until she caressed his nape with her fingertips. For a moment she wished her gloves off, wished to experience the feel of him directly against her flesh. His muscles bunched beneath her touch; he spread his palm on the middle of her lower back. Butterflies danced through her stomach. Vaughn and her separated slightly and their gazes met.”

Thank you for stopping by. I am currently neck deep in edits for DbD, the sequel to Rescue by Ruin, which means I won’t be online a lot.

Have a wonderful first weekend in January 2014.

Forced to marry a violent man, Beatrice knows only one way out—ruin her reputation. She climbs aboard the Venia, a dirigible of ill repute, for a masquerade. Bea does not expect to run into Vaughn Kemple, the third Duke of Missenden, who eight months ago left her without an explanation. Feeling secure behind her mask, she decides Vaughn will be the one to ruin her. She may not get to spend forever with this man she still loves, but at least she can have one night of pleasure.

But a mask is not enough to hide her identity. Vaughn recognizes Bea, shocked to find her aboard an airship where sexual freedom isn’t just a thought, it’s celebrated. But her actions are far from innocent. Captivated, he’s determined to make her his.

The heat between them flares, but Vaughn is torn between desire and honor. Bea is afraid to risk her heart on a man she can’t trust. And when her future husband arrives on the scene, it’s more than their hearts in danger.

Weekend Writing Warriors-Rescue by Ruin Part 2

Only a few more days to Christmas. I hope you’re all set and ready to enjoy the season.

Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating in the Weekend Writing Warriors. Today I have another snippet from Rescue by Ruin, a Victorian steampunk story, for you. Vaughn, the hero, has just caught sight of a rather unusual young lady.

“Vaughn Kemple stared at the vision in gold and red. She looked like a woman dressed in flames. He only cared about ladies’ fashion in so far as he knew how to undress them, but even he knew her ensemble was highly irregular. The blouse followed its owner like a second skin. The deep-red corset presented her breasts to the world, lent just a hint of modesty by the sheer gold overshirt. The skirt hugged her beautifully rounded hips and made him want to follow the curves with his hands.

He balled his fists, attempting to push his instant attraction aside. Just because his best friend had dragged him here to drown his sorrows in great booze didn’t mean that he had to take the first available female who dragged him out of his brooding.

He had not given up hope of persuading Miss Beatrice Trevan to see reason.”

Enjoy your weekend and if you would like to win a copy of any of my books come over to Darker Temptations and tell me what you’re excited about this Christmas.

I Have Not Been Kidnapped by A Sexy Space Pirate!

As much as I would have liked to, I have not been kidnapped by a sexy Space Pirate (and I’m quite disappointed about that;). Nor have I dropped off the edge of the world or found a time machine. I do however have a new job, which has eaten up huge chunks of my time as well as my mental engergy. I am hoping to change that and the first thing on the list is to whip out the featherduster.

Get your mind out of the gutter, I need it to get rid of the dust that has settled on the blog! *waves around the featherduster, stops the dustbunny orgy and coughs at the motes whirling around her* There now, that’s better.

I enjoy my new job, but I am so far out of my comfort zone I am in a new dimension. I still work with books, but in quite a different way. After a month things have gotten a little better, which I why I hope to spend more time online.

I have managed very little writing. I am still working on Sexy Steampunk 2, the sequel to Rescue by Ruin, and have drafted an outline for a rewrite of a steampunk Christmas story I wrote a couple of years ago. All I need now is the mojo to sit down and write…or a seat on the morning subway to write longhand. Both are very, very difficult to come by.

I hope all of you are doing fabulously well! Let’s all have a fantastic week!

Sneak Peek Sunday-31st March 2013

Here is my Sneak Peek Sunday. Click here to read the other great snippets.

Here is a little snippet from “Rescue by Ruin”.

“Before she could protest Vaughn lifted her into his arms.

“You’re causing a scene,” she hissed, but he ignored her.

“We’ve been over this. No one cares.”

Bea dragged her attention away from the man who had enchanted her and looked around.

The automaton quartet still played, but no one danced anymore. At least not in any way, shape or form that would be permissible in any other ballroom she’d ever been in. Sparks spread through her body as she watched other couples and threesomes engage with one another.

Her breathing stopped for a moment when a woman dressed like a milkmaid leaned back against a soldier and a pirate lifted her breasts out of the top of her dress. The woman moaned when the pirate pulled one nipple into his mouth.

Bea’s nipples throbbed, wishing for Vaughn’s touch again.

The soldier followed the woman’s body with both his hands and caressed her above her clothes. The pirate moved between her breasts, kissing and sucking and…licking? She saw his glistening tongue slide across the woman’s nipple.

The wildfire flared back to life between her legs.

Vaughn paused and studied her face.”

Have a fabulous Sunday and a great start to the week.

Rescue by Ruin on USA Today Website

The lovely and amazing Karla Doyle shared the link on twitter, otherwise I wouldn’t have seen it. With the cold still weighing me down I’m not spending a lot of time on the internet.

Rescue by Ruin has a mention on the USA Today website, together with a number of other sizzling Ellora’s Cave authors.

I am so very excited. This is a first for me;).

Hope you have a great weekend!

Rescue by Ruin Now Available on Amazon

Wohoo! Rescue by Ruin has finally made it to the kindle store. Very exciting, even if I am as sick as a dog and just want to drop into bed and sleep for a week;).

Rescue by Ruin – Snippet Four and Release Day Give-Away

Woohoo! My super-sexy steampunk novel Rescue by Ruin comes out today! It is hot-hot-hot and I am very excited. *does a quick dance around the office*

I love Beatrice and Vaughn’s story and I hope you will too. Here is the promised fourth snippet:

“His eyes, filled with flaming fury, held her captive. She finally managed to drop her gaze and pressed the napkin against his wound. Other than a hiss, he didn’t respond.

During the altercation everyone moved closer to the gramophone. Bea took shallow breaths. She had no idea how much time had passed and when they could expect the Yard.

And they still needed Waldon’s confession.”

Having lived in London for a long time I thoroughly enjoy mixing my experiences and knowledge with research and building a world where dirigibles, automatons and MENVs are part of daily lives. There are a great many definitions of what steampunk is, but for me is is the opportunity to mix the historical with the fantastical and even throw in a little Sci-Fi.

History has always been a subject close to my heart and at one time, when I was very, very young, I thought about becoming an archaeologist. Didn’t quite work out that way, but I wouldn’t mind meeting my own personal Doctor and travel through time and space in our very own TARDIS. I would love to see Ancient Egypt, watch Michelangelo sculpt David, meet Elizabeth I, hang out with Auguste Rodin or travel to Japan and meet Musashi Miyamoto.

What time would you like to visit and who would you like to hang out with? Leave a comment and you will be entered to win a copy of Rescue by Ruin. If you also Tweet a link to this post and include my Twitter handle @TinaChristopher I’ll enter your name for second time. The contest runs until Wednesday 7th November.

Happy Friday!

Rescue by Ruin – Snippet Three

And Beatrice and Vaughn were just about to move on to the fun parts of the evening…

“Vaughn shrugged and carefully opened the door into the corridor a crack. At the other end three men, all wearing the Air Pirate uniform of leather trousers, boots and coat, combined with goggles to cover their faces, tore open the doors and dragged the inhabitants out at gunpoint.

But not for themselves. Not to rob or ravish.

He frowned at the tall bulky figure of a well-dressed man. He wore evening clothes very much like Vaughn himself. His face was red and a vein throbbed at his forehead. He looked as if he’d succumb to apoplexy if his needs weren’t met soon.”

Rescue by Ruin – Snippet Two

Beatrice and Vaughn have met and are now discovering more about each other:

“One couple had half undressed. Her corset was unlaced and her breasts stood out for all to see. His hands cupped and caressed them.

Bea strained to keep them in her sights. Watching them sent tingles unfurling deep inside her. She shivered.

“Shocked?” Vaughn’s voice had a husky timbre. He must have felt her need to observe and spun her slowly so that with every turn she could watch the couple.

She examined her response. It was not what she expected.”
