Weekend Writing Warriors-Dirigibles Are Forever Snippet 9

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.

This is the final snippet from my sexy steampunk novella Dirigibles Are Forever. I’ll need to leave some secrets for you to explore (and it’s January, so a Christmas novella is a little out of date;).

Last week we learned that Jack had a very good reason for being at the London Royal Port Authority. I’m moving a bit forward to one of my favourite snippets. Holly and Jack have finished with the busy traffic and the sky is empty due to the bad weather. They get a little closer. Holly may have mentioned that she’s feeling a certain hunger and that there are numerous ways to sat said hunger. Jack speaks first and we’re in Holly’s point of view.

“Give me an example.” His voice had also roughened.

Could she do it? Even if she wanted more than tonight—which she’d promised herself she did not—he’d had ample opportunity to show he was on the same page.

He hadn’t.

This was for her.

She licked her lower lip. “One night,” she whispered. “No rules, no boundaries. Only what we can do for each other.”

I hope you had a fabulous start to the New Year! May 2015 be an amazing and fabulous year for all of us;).

I’m so close to finishing FPWL, so close I can actually see the end…or at least that’s what I tell myself when I’m not looking at the outline and all the details I still need to wrap up…;).

Have a wonderful Sunday and Happy Writing!

Dirigibles Are Forever blurb. You can read a sample chapter if you follow the link.

Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.

Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.

When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.

But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?

  1. Great snippet. Loved how straightforward she was! Especially the last line!

  2. I really love how she just steps up and takes charge of the situation. Surely, he loves it too!

  3. So good. Tasteful and a touch more than suggestive, she breaks the barrier. Well done.

  4. Love her hesitant boldness. Hope he takes her up on the offer.

  5. Very nicely done. I wish I could see Jack’s expression.

  6. This is great! I love how she takes charge. Nice snippet.

  7. I liked her confidence. Don’t think Jack could resist her now. Great snippet with just enough tease to leave us wanting more. 😉

  8. Whew! (fans self) Very, very nice, Tina. 🙂

  9. Oh my, Jack’s a goner…how can he resist this invitation LOL? Loved the snippet!

  10. I especially love that “promise.” She sounds like she’s trying to convince herself… but not entirely succeeding.
