Weekend Writing Warriors-Dirigibles Are Forever Snippet 6
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors, the perfect place to discover new authors and fall in love with their writing. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
I’m continuing with my sexy steampunk Christmas novella Dirigibles Are Forever, which is out now! *happy dance* If you comment here there is a very, very (did I mention very;) good chance for you to win the steampunk jewellery I’m giving away to celebrate the release.
Last week Holly decided to give her boss Mr. Tannenbaum one final shiftas Aether traffic controller. I have moved forward and it is now Christmas Eve. She has arrived at work excited and a little apprehensive. She’s getting ready to head up to the tower.
“You will seduce Jack Smith tonight. She would step out of the protective bubble she’d only recently realized she’d surrounded herself with after David’s death. Today would be the first day of a new Holly. Or rather the return of the old Holly who’d disappeared after finding her husband’s dead body in their tent during a botanist expedition to the Amazon.
She didn’t want to hide any longer.
She wanted to live again.
And one passionate night of sex would set her on her new path.
Holly exhaled and closed her locker with a slam.”
FPWL, the next book in the series, is killing me. It has been suggested that I sit down with a glass of wine or other alcohol when I next try to write to shut off my inner editor and just push through. This advice came from at least 4 other authors, so I assume there’s something to it;). I don’t like the taste of alcohol, but I will try it. Wish me luck!
Have a great Sunday and as always Happy Writing!
Dirigibles Are Forever blurb. You can read a sample chapter if you follow the link.
Working as an Aether Traffic Controller saved Holly Acklin after the death of her husband, but now she wants more—including a night of uninhibited passion with Jack Smith, whose very presence has kept her body tingling for months.
Special Agent Jack Smith kept his identity a secret when he came to the London Royal Port Authority with one assignment, one he cannot fail. It holds him back from following his attraction to Holly. But on the eve he must complete the mission, Holly asks for one night with no rules or boundaries, and his control snaps.
When London experiences an unexpectedly white Christmas, all dirigible traffic is grounded, leaving Holly and Jack free to act upon their stormy passions. Holly finds her determination to stay emotion-free crumbling unaware Jack is experiencing the same need. Each lover wishes for more, but fears it can’t be. Instead they focus their desires in mind-blowing passion.
But when Holly discovers that Jack isn’t who he claimed to be, everything is thrown into turmoil. Can she trust the man she thought she knew?

Oh, Tina! I’m only a few chapters in and I LOVE THIS STORY! Holly is great and Jack is . . . Jack. 😀
(I’m also crushing on the guy on the cover, because eyelashes and pouty lips apparently work for me, but that’s beside the point)
Thank you, Sarah. It is wonderful to hear you’re enjoying it.
Very good! I hope Holly’s dreams come true. I like where this whole story is going!
Thank you, Frank:).
I love the worldbuilding and I’m pulling for Holly – can’t wait to meet Jack! Excellent excerpt, best wishes with the writing!
Thank you, Veronica!
Fun, fun, fun. This snippet carries excitement and optimism right off the page.
Thank you, Millie, that was what I was going for;).
I’m carried away by Holly’s optimism and excitement. I’m also intrigued by her past- Amazon expedition! Sounds like she’s ready for a new adventure!
Lol, thank you, Christina. She’s definitely ready for a new adventure;).
I love her new attitude and I can’t wait to find out what Jack thinks about it! Great snippet.
Thanks, Alexis.
You can never really go back to a previous version of yourself, I think. But you can change, again, into a version you like better. She seems to have the right idea on how to do so!
She’s definitely trying to find herself again.
And what an adventure this will be. Go Holly!
Thanks, Gem.
Nothing so lovely as going to work with anything other than work on your mind. Loving it! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by, Amalie.
Sure hope she can recharge the way she is hoping but I read the blurb and worry about the damage when she finds out Jack is “something else”. Great snippet.
Thank you, Chelle.
