Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Redemption Snippet 1
Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.
Today I am sharing the opening of my current WIP, Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series. It is not yet finished and has not been polished;). I don’t have a blurb yet either, but I will try and give you some context.
My heroine is Sydney. We meet her for the first time in Tangled Hunger, book 2 of the Celestial Surrender series. Circumstances I cannot go into without spoiling everything result in her being kidnapped by a Vampire who has the impossible task of balancing the survival of one with that of a galaxy. Tangled Redemption is a Sci-Fi story and takes place in a universe inhabited by humans, Vampires and Naema, a race that has been likened to angels. There is a tenuous peace between the three races, but a faction of the Vampires, the Ferals, does not want to bow down to human law. You could say there is a smidgeon of tension between them and the rest of the galaxy, expressed through a kill-on-sight order against them.
“When the Feral Vampire strode up to her, a malicious grin curving his thin lips, fangs glistening, Sydney Radnall knew she would never again allow anyone to take her blood. She would die first.
There were three of them. The other two stayed slightly behind, fanning out and blocking the entrance, which was programmed to only open from the outside.
Marissa, the young human that had been taken from Parvati at the same time as Sydney, stood at her side. Their shoulders bumped, Marissa’s shaking, but she raised her fists as if to fend off the three Vampires with her bare hands.
No way in fucking hell.
Sydney straightened her shoulders, rolled her neck and took a step forward; she smiled.”
I am looking forward to hearing your comments. I am making reasonable progress with the writing, although it took me nearly four days to finish this major scene I have been working on. I hope my American friends had a great long weekend.
Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

Ooooh, I want to know what she has up her sleeve to stand up to a group of 3 ferals!! Intriguing snippet, can’t wait for more!
Thank you, Sarah.
Looks like Sydney’s about to kick some you-know-what!
Lol, that she is, Angela. Thank you.
I really enjoyed her response. I think I’m going to like this character. Great eight.
I hope you will, Alexis. Thank you;).
Definitely a tense scene. I like the way she goes on the offensive, can’t wait to read more. Great excerpt!

Nothing I enjoy more than a tough courageous heroine. Way to go, Tina.
Thank you, Charmaine.
Oh wow. Interesting set up, and there’s a nice sense of menace too. Well done. 🙂
I am glad the menace comes through. Thank you, Beth.
Absolutely adore the last line! Bring it on.
Lol, thank you, Millie.
This is SO good, Tina! I want to read more. Your writing is fluid, full of great description without overdoing it. Wonderful 8!
Thank you, Teresa. I am glad the description is working.
Fight! Fight! Fight! 😀
I like how they aren’t going quietly, Tina. And I agree with Millie about that last line!
No, Sydney is definitely not going down without a fight. The only question is if she can win this one;). Thank you.
I loved your extract!
I want to read the rest!
Thank you, Sophie. That is a huge compliment. I will do my best to finish the book quickly;).
I hope she knows what she’s doing.
You will find out next week;).
She smiled! Love it. I can just imagine a Matrix-style gesture to go with it – bring it on!
Hm, I hadn’t thought about the Matrix-style gesture…I may have to add that;). Thank you.
The description of the vampire, quick as it is, is very striking. *shivers* Hope she makes it out okay!
Thank you, Eleri. I am glad the menace comes through;).
