Weekend Writing Warriors-Danger by Dalliance Snippet 8

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating.

I am continuing to share snippets from Danger by Dalliance, a historical erotic menage with steampunk elements. This comes immediately after last week’s snippet. Archer just informed Sarah that she would pose nude for his artist friend Warren. In exchange for that he would pay her father’s royalties early. He is pushing her to share the true reason for needing the money. You’re about to find out how successful he is! I have used some creative punctuation to give you the whole passage;)

“She jerked back and straightened, “What?”

Here we are; now she would have to tell him why she really needed the money and he could assist her with whatever her problem was.

She turned sheet white; panic glimmered in her eyes before she looked down and tugged on her cuffs.

Archer felt a little nauseated; it had not been his intention to scare her; he sat back down and waited for her surrender.

“All right.”

He struggled to control his expression, “Excuse me?”

Miss Rigdon looked back up, a mulish tilt to her chin, “I said all right.”

What the fuck am I supposed to do now? Talk about a plan rebounding.

BEA was a lot of fun, but exhausting. The banana pudding was heavenly. If you like pudding and are heading to New York let me know. I will share the secret;). When I got home work exploded in my face, pretty much keeping me away from my computer for the whole week. Fingers crossed things will get a little bit better next week.

Have an amazing week and as always Happy Writing!

  1. You’ve done an excellent job showing her tension. It’s a compelling snippet, well done.

  2. Very amusing that Archer got what he was asking for, but not exactly what he was trying to find out. Enjoying the story, another great snippet!

  3. I got confused with quotations as to who was speaking. Intriguing situation going on in your snippet. Good job.

  4. Ha, ha! Good for her. Can’t wait to see what he does with her now.

  5. lol! Yeah, I think that planned backfired on him pretty good. Can’t wait to see what happens as a result.

  6. Hee! Talk about being careful what you wish for. 😉 Great snippet, Tina! Looking forward to the next one!

  7. Whoops! Backfired or what? I assume he was expecting her to plead rather than just accept. He seems to have run out of leverage.

  8. Whoops! That’s what he gets for making threats he didn’t intend to follow through on! I bet she’s pretty annoyed with him, but from his POV, I feel just a little sorry for him. He’s stuck now!

  9. Well, he’s found out that (1) she really doesn’t want to tell him why she needs the money or (2) she’s an exhibitionist at heart.

  10. Hmm, will she really tell him, or concoct another tale? 🙂 Nice blend of details and dialogue, Tina. 🙂

  11. That didn’t go quite right for him, I think. 🙂 She’s a very strong woman and one who knows how to pick her battles . Obviously nudity was the lesser of two evils. Loved this snippet!

  12. Point, set, and match! 😀

    I’m LOVING this story!

  13. I think it’s great that he wasn’t actually thinking she’d go through with it…too funny : )
