Weekend Writing Warriors-Tangled Shadows Snippet 5

Welcome to the Weekend Writing Warriors. Each Sunday we share 8 sentences from a current or finished manuscript. Click here for the rest of the amazing writers participating. better-wewriwa

Today’s snippet comes a little bit after last week’s. It is still from Tangled Shadows, book 1 in the Celestial Surrender series. We discovered last week that Nikolai and Galen had an ulterior motive for seeing out Brooke, but now they are about to run into a spot of trouble…

“Nikolai froze, can you get in her head?

Galen tried to gently enter Brooke’s consciousness, but came up against a wall. It was as if she had an iridium shield where most humans had no protection.

What the fuck happened? Nikolai asked. Humans don’t have these kinds of shields.

Galen paused. This made their plan more difficult, but they’d adjust. The way she appeared to respond to their presence? They could use that to their advantage; finding answers was too important to have scruples.”

Sexy Steampunk 2 is done and now has a publication date: April 16th! Talk about scrambling to get things set up in time. I am checking my email every two seconds for the cover. I have discovered it is just a little difficult to organise marketing without a book cover;). I am starting to make progress with Tangled Redemption, book 4 in the Celestial Surrender series…slowly, but steadily;).

Have a wonderful Sunday and a fabulous week. As always, Happy Writing!

tangledshadows_msr.jpgAfter losing not only her ship but also three days of her memory in a freak explosion, Space Captain Brooke Deverell wants only to forget her troubles for one amazing night and fulfill her wildest fantasy.

She gets that and more from Vampire Nikolai and ArchNaema Galen. The men have long been lovers and welcome her into their world of extraordinary sensuality. For one blissful night, Brooke believes she’s found her soul mates—but her happiness is short lived when she realizes she’s actually been kidnapped. The men hunted her down under the assumption she sold her crew and human cargo to Feral Vampires as blood slaves.

After realizing her amnesia is real and of a paranormal nature, they find themselves at an impasse. To prevent a galaxy-wide war they must work together. The three discover their sensual partnership can heal her mind. But for a complete and successful union, Brooke has to decide if she can forgive the initial deception and open her heart to the two men who stir her blood.

You can buy Tangled Shadows from amazon, Ellora’s Cave or Kobo.

  1. That is trouble! I guess some humans can shield themselves from power like that. I wonder if they’ll find the answers they’re looking for,

  2. Love the line “finding answers was too important to have scruples”. Great snippet!

  3. Enjoyed the excerpt and i’m with Alexis, the line about scruples was terrific. Best wishes with the new book release in just a few weeks!

  4. Excellent details…love the idea of comparing her mental block to an iridium shield. Perfect…and the end thoughts? Yummy. 😀

  5. I love that she’s able to block them, and I’m curious about how they’re going to use her responsiveness to their advantage. I have a feeling it’s going to be a sexy romp!

  6. On a random note, I love the word scruples! But I also love this story! Very cool that her thoughts are protected by a shield. Looking forward to more! 🙂

  7. So interesting! I love the intrigue of getting around her shield and using it to their advantage. Wonderful Snippet.

  8. Love this: “finding answers was too important to have scruples.” Ha! I wrote that and then looked up at the other comments. Apparently I’m not the only one!
